the science bit

The MIND Diet

Our ‘brain friendly’ meals are based on the MIND way of eating. MIND is a brain focused diet developed to improve brain function and prevent dementia. MIND stands for the Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay and is composed of two well researched diets, the Mediterranean diet and the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet.

Foods for a healthy brain

The MIND diet emphasizes certain foods shown to support a healthy brain. These are green vegetables, other vegetables, nuts, beans, berries, whole grains, fish, poultry, olive oil and red wine. Foods to avoid when following the diet are red meat, cheese, fried, processed foods, sweets and pastries.

What the research says

Several studies [1] have found that following the MIND diet is linked with a lower risk of cognitive decline [2]  and of developing Alzheimer’s Disease [3]. The Mediterranean diet (on which MIND is based) has also been shown to have a positive impact on anxiety and depression [4]
