Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of staying healthy and helping you feel your best.

Our meals have been carefully designed using evidence-based nutrition research to ensure they are balanced, are packed full of natural nutrition and contain a variety of ingredients such as plant-based foods, healthy fats, legumes. Research shows that a diet based upon these principles is linked with better gut health, lower inflammation, healthy ageing and heart.

Research has shown that people that ate more than 30 different plant types each week had a more diverse gut microbiome than those that ate less. Different plant types contain distinct types of fibre, prebiotics and ‘bioactives’ that nourish different microbes. Microbial diversity is linked with better gut health, heart health and brain health.

Unrefined whole grains contain key nutrients such as starch, B vitamins, phytochemicals and essential minerals such as copper and selenium. Most importantly, they contain gut friendly fibre and may be beneficial in the prevention of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.

Our meat, fish and other proteins are carefully sourced from fully traceable suppliers. We select them to be as naturally made as possible and are free from artificial ingredients. Pulses, fish and meat are good sources of protein essential for growth, muscle repair and maintenance of good health. We source British pulses where possible. We are big believers in beans, lentils and peas (great for the planet, rich in fibre, resistant starch, folate and magnesium) and add these to all our meals.

less meat, but better

Our meals are plant based but where we use meat, we use less, for health and planetary reasons. We define better meat as meat from animals where there are high standards of animal welfare, no forced growth and fed locally sourced feed.

We believe in good fat (not low fat) as it provides essential fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins e.g. vitamin D. We use extra virgin olive oil as it is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and associated with many health benefits. We are also nuts about nuts, seeds and oily fish as they contain omega-3 fats and essential minerals such as selenium.
